Besides bridges, are there any ways to use Legos in Civil design?  Are there
many builders that do so?  Has anyone ever built a working Lego dam or utility
system?  What about complicated roadway designs?  TLC has road plates, but has
anyone ever build a "cloverleaf" intersection or an urban interchange out of
Legos?

Nathan,

First, I think this question is posted in the wrong newsgroup. I'm not certain
you'd get too many answers to your question in lugnet.technic. I think it
belongs in .build, 'cause this is where the action is for large scale structures
such as complicated roadwork, etc.

Have you seen Adrian Egli's bridge designs? Check out this post,
<http://news.lugnet.com/build/?n=15232>. I'd also encourage you to have a look
in lugnet.build.arch, which has posts on many differant types of building themes
(understandably, it's mostly about, well, buildings, but there is more in there
than you think).

If you have a look around you can find eventually, making other roadways from
brick (SNOT style), and more. You should also try to look up some pictures from
BrickFest 2004, which featured those roadways in part of the town set up, (I'm
sorry, I can't remember which club brought them, someone please help me out
there).

I know, it took a whole lot to just say 'YES,' but I hope the links help you out
a bit.

Have Fun,
C-Ya!

Let me say thanks to Rich for the referal :-)

Complicated road designs are something I'm just starting to break into (it's
getting all the tile).  My last MOC
(http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1108100) was my first try at a
merge.  Granted, I live in an area (Southern Cal.) with concrete road structrues
all over, I don't think I've ever seen one like mine.  I must admit, the clover
leaf idea would be quite a challenge (think- curved AND sloped!).

Did you catch this from SCLTC?
http://news.lugnet.com/announce/?n=2856

I remembered they made a dam in one of their layouts back in '02 but the only
good picture I could find is this-
