HAHAHAHAHAHA! That’s a funny MOC! It couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time than this either... the chatter levels of garbage are very high this time.

Not just coincidence, it was pretty much inspired by all arguments going on at the moment, hence the “silver lining” comment.

Also, I think its good that the vignette is larger in scale to the fig... it adds a sense of overwhelming to the whole thing. Either way, it’d be nice to see how you did the construction of the screen puke. Good Job!

People seem obsessed with the scale. I knew when I was building it that it was a pretty huge monitor, but I justified it to myself by just saying “Oh well, this guy is lucky enough to have a huge screen. I think I now prefer the answer suggested by your comment, that it is an artistic caricature, where the screen has stretched to cope with the volume of vomit.

As for the vomit construction, it was pretty random, I started out by working out what would fit snugly in the bounds of the screen and then just built outwards from there. The core (although that is stretching the word) consists of a couple of these:

and these:

and then a random assortment of small plates slapped on the outside. Now that it’s complete it’s marginally stable, but it was very fragile and unstable while I was building it. At one point I dropped it on the floor and it completely disintegrated. :(

I’m not sure I’ll be able to photograph the internals because as soon as I try and pull of one tiny part off the whole thing will fall apart.

The vomit isn’t actually attached to the rest of the vignette in any real sense. It just sits on the floor tiles and is only held in place by the tight fit where it goes into the screen.

Cheers Tim

(...) That was my thought as well---it swells up right before it barfs! ;] Great work! If there were a way to make that upper "corner" of the puke into less of a corner, that would be the only change I'd make. It looks a little blocky (pun not (...) (20 years ago, 23-Jan-05, to lugnet.build)
