Will I be able to run both rings off of the same motor? Will the motor be
strong enough?

Most probably - assuming the rings are both balanced all you need to
overcome is friction. And they wont be spinning all that fast.
|
I just figured how to do the different directions on a single
motor (forgive the MSPaint drawing).

Cool! But dont knock yourself out trying to get it to run off a single motor -
unless you only have one!! Youd probably find on the real craft, they would be
driven independently, with computer synchronisation.

And speed is actually something I dont want - the HabRing has to be very
slow since Im going to have detail I want people to see inside of it.
Ive been talking with Soren Roberts on IM and have been getting some good
feadback and ideas - Im feeling a lot more confident about doing this, as
this will be my first technic/motorized project. i have a deep fear of
getting it built, turning it on and watching it fall into pieces.

LOL dont worry it happens *a lot* even to people that play with motors all the
time!
