Hi Nathaneal,
Just noticed this thread today or I would have posted sooner. I love your
alternate model MOCs and this is another great one! Please keep building and
sharing more. It's amazing how well you captured the "hover vehicle" style with
just the 4403 pieces, and you even added some neat details like the interior
seat/controls and the chrome pipe on the underside. When I try an alternate
model MOC it's hard enough just to get the exterior looking good, not to mention
adding interior or underside details.
As I believe we discussed before, I think the designer sets provide a great
opportunity for cool alternate-model MOCs. I recently got the new Dinosaurs and
Sea Predators sets and they seem to have just as much potential. I'm looking
forward to see what you do with those :-)
I've had an idea for an alternate that combines 4402 with 4404. It would be the
4404 pickup truck, exactly as the official model, but it would then use the
extra wheels/axle(s) from 4404 (the cargo from the official model) plus the
pieces of 4402 to build a trailer with a waverunner/jet-ski or small boat. That
4404 model already has a trailer hitch built in and it's just asking for someone
to make a MOC for it to pull. I seem to recall that a really early (and I
believe leaked) picture of 4404 showed it as a blue pick-up truck pulling a
trailer with what I seem to recall was a motorcycle on it. I guess TLC thought
that would be too many pieces so they shrunk it to just be the truck.
Anyway, I've been thinking of that idea for almost a year now and never got
around to trying to build it. If you or anyone else reading this wanted to take
a crack at it I'd be thrilled to see what you come up with. I wonder if anyone
has already come up with a trailer MOC for 4404?
Regards,
Paul

| (...) Has been a while Paul! Thanks for your kind comment and that you've noticed the details. I'll do my best to keep up coming with some alternate models. I've recently bought the new designersets too so I'll see what I can do with those. Good (...) (20 years ago, 6-Aug-04, to lugnet.build, lugnet.loc.nl, lugnet.space, FTX)
