Actually, Hasbro has come out with some new versions of GI Joe and Transformers that are "construction block" style. They have Lego clone studs, but beyond that they aren't very similar. I just thought of it, since you mentioned a license. So, you are unlikely to see Lego produce an official Transformer model.
This is much cooler anyway. I wonder if Ldraw file or instructions might be
forthcoming? I just bought this set a few weeks back, and I love it. I might
have to try and build this from the pictures.
