Nice!

I like the fact that you actually built "something better" than lego
designers did with the same set of pieces!

Thanks... (Kevin deserves most of the praise!)

Thanks Philo,

This exercise is at the same time frustrating ("if only LEGO included one more
Axle 3") and rewarding ("ah, this part is the solution)...

Yes.  Creating a design being restricted to a given set's part inventory can be
frustrating.

My first real experience with this was when I was working on my first book,
robots based on the Dark Side Developer kit.  It took many, many rounds of
design before I figured out how to make cool things given the parts at hand.  It
was especially hard because I was trying to make walkers.  In the end I was
quite pleased, but it took a lot of work, and fostered a lot of creativity.

I've completed a pneumatic biped based on the 8455 set.  There are quite a few
pieces I miss in that set, so it took a while for me to get some good
geometries.  I've gotten my first 8455 pneumatic biped working.  It takes very
long strides.  I'll upload pictures and movies soon.

I think I've only started to scratch the surface of what can be done with the
set.  I do enjoy the challenge of living within a set, because it forces more
creative solutions to constrained problems.

The 8455 set is just such a great resource.  It just needs more switches ;^)
