Also, you can cut them in half (would require two separators, as some excess
plastic gets taken away in the saw blade) to get to plates stuck in corners. I
haven't done this but I imagine a guide built out of bricks and a hobby saw
would do the trick, with some cleanup with fine grit sandpaper to make the cut
edge nice and smooth. :-)

I made one out of "old" LEGO parts that I no longer like and
glued up a brick separator for this kind of job.

Why cut up and ruin a perfectly good brick separator when you
can your recycle old LEGO with tooth marks and scratches :-)
