Question about part 44359 (half cylinder

Since I haven’t made the effort to buy any sets with it in them, but I’m wondering about part 44359, the hemisphere. In the “ball-joints,” are there two hemispheres, or one? Is there a way to join two of the hemispheres into a sphere? The pic at Peeron isn’t clear...

(...) They use two hemispheres sandwiched inside the socket. You can use one by itself if you really feel like it, but it's a tiny bit sloppier without the second hemisphere to ride against.
