Nathaniel,
I've written a program called LPub that takes an LDraw file of your
super-car and creates building instructions automatically.  You lay out all
your steps using MLCad, hand the file(s) to LPub and it creates all the
construction images (one per step or rotation step), as well as part list
images per step.  It also creates an image of all the parts needed for the
entire car.  Once, you start LPub generating building instructions it
requires no human interaction to create all the imagery.

The images are rendered using POV-Ray (and MEGAPOV if you like.)

I wrote it and used it to help publish five books for Syngress Publishing.

You can read about it over in lugnet.cad.

You can get LPub off my website http://www.users.qwest.net/~kclague.  You
can pick up a book on the LDraw family of tools on Amazon called "LEGO
Software Power Tools", which covers MLCAD, LPub and LSynth (a tool that
synthesizes bendable LDraw parts like rubber bands and tubes.)  I wrote
Lsynth because it is hard to document advanced designs without bendable parts.

I'll have a look what will be the best method of making the instructions.
The sportscar is not made in either Leocad or MLcad, so I have to find out
another method for making nice (and quick) instruction pictures. Any
suggestions are welcome.
Thanx for your interest and I hope that more people will be interested too
when they have seen my LEGO cars at:

I love your supercar designs.  If you have instructions, please let take a
look.  Your cars are great!

Hi Kevin, (...) Thanks for your advise and I'll defenitely read the articles. It might be interested for future projects (I'll may use it for the helicopter airwolf, which is already a Ldraw file. This isn't a complex design so it is perfect for (...) (22 years ago, 17-Mar-03, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)
