Hi gang! I have been working on some "creative packaging" for a gift I am
giving to a loved one, and I am really banging my head against the wall with
it. Any suggestions or even totally different design ideas would be welcomed.
I searched some of the building instructions sites, and poured over various
places trying to find something similar to what I am shooting for, but to no
avail...
Here's the link to the images of the abomination I have created thus far:
http://www.thomasrainwater.com/lego_notebook/
.......and Here is what I am trying to do.
- Create a notebook, or box style design that I can put photos and a stack
of half-page (8.5" x 5.5") documents into.
- It would be *nice* if I could figure out a simple, reliable latch, hasp or
closing mechanism. (Nothing too fancy, just something to keep it shut...)
- I am trying to use the least amount of bricks possible, and I don't want
to glue anything together, but would still like the thing to be somewhat
rigid. (A tall order, huh!?)
Some problems I am having with this current design:
- The cover seems to want to "rack" a bit, as the hinges do not go down the
entire length of the spine. (Lack of Technic parts)
- No reliable way to latch it shut. (Think the closing mechanism on say, a
diary... sans lock of course.)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
-Tommy

| Hi Tommy, Great start :) Here's my suggestions: - Go on bricklink.com and buy the technic bricks you need to get the hinge to lie across the entire spine. - For the latch, a couple of technic pins and technic bricks or plates should work :) Hope (...) (22 years ago, 6-Dec-02, to lugnet.build)
