Dude, that's kind of cool... did you copy the design from a catalog, • or
design it yourself?

the design is original, but it is based on the "surroundstation" offered by
creative labs ( www.creativelabs.com )

Are they kinda wobbly up there?

they're pretty stable, although I'm a bit afraid that the supports might
give out...

Looks like it might
be, if they didn't have any crossbraces.  Or is all the counterbalancing
done behind the monitor?

there's some bracing between the arms (a big block of plates ties them
together where they pass over the monitor). my counterbalance is a copy of
"Gray's Anatomy", which holds the back edge of the baseplate down, otherwise
the weight of the speakers on the arms levers the monitor forward rather
precariously.

Do they seem to have plenty of tensile strength?

they hold up the speakers, and that's what is important. I'll probably get
the surroundstation anyway, though

I think it's neat, especially in that it's not just for fun, but it's
actually got a usefulness, too.  There was a computer case (the Woo Lego
Project, at: http://www.woo.nu/lego/day1.html ) some time back that I • liked
for the combination of fun and function, as well as a clock design by Dr.
Leo Dorst(at: http://carol.wins.uva.nl/~leo/lego/clock.html ) that is to • me
a marvel.  I think that it's pretty cool that you've taken the fun of
building with Lego bricks in a useful direction.
     Keep it up!

Peace and Long Life,
Tony Alexander

thanks.
