I use for my brass and it removed the paint well but the the surface was still
kinda dull. Then I remembered this stuff I used to resurface the photo drums in
the copymachines I used to work on and tried it out. Not only did it remove the
paint quickly but when I cleaned it up with a cotton cloth most of the shine
came back. So then I tried it out on a painted canopy. It works very well and
only if you look closely can you tell the surface has minor surface scratches.
Its good enough at a distance that you cant tell there was ever paint on it.
the product is called "Nevr-dull®"" the original magic wadding polish" and is
sold in the hardware stores around here. You might find it in a lamp shop but I
personally havent confirmed that . The company that makes it is the George
Basch Co.of Freeport, New York 11520. This can has a price tag of $1.79 but its
a few years old so I have no idea of the current price. Seems to me to be a
good option to the brake fluid treatment so try it out !

I've tried various paint removal schemes with mostly very little
success.  My last attempt was brake fluid, which mostly just dissolved
my tiles.

I've seen the pieces John has worked with up close - they look pretty
good.  Up close you do see some minor abrasions, but mainly on the
solid black brick.  On the transparent green windshield/canopy thingie
they aren't very obvious at all, and they look a heckuva lot better
without all the stupid UFO crap on them.
