Hi,
I build mostly in a castle theme, but I buy across themes for pieces and
minifigs that fit my building plans. Often this is outside of pure Castle,
e.g. Star Wars and Harry Potter have good parts for my purposes, and I got
some Western sets for parts for my castle creations (lots of BURPs and log
walls). I actually don't buy much in Castle itself because I've got enough
men, horses, and weapons (often from Bricklink and E-bay), and most Castle
sets have too many panel pieces for my tastes. I'd rather buy bulk bricks.
Aside from that, I'd say I'm sort of minifig driven. I've gotten several of
the Star Wars sets just because I wanted to get the main characters as figs,
and I want that Spiderman and the new Monsters figs.
When I was a kid I was completely into Classic Space, so I've got a bunch of
those sets, too. It holds a special place in my heart, but I haven't bought
much recently outside of the Star Wars sets.

| I know this is an odd question but I am curious how everyone collects? Do you collect just the sets you like? Do you collect a favorite "system"? Do you collect just the systems you "MOC" in? Do you collect sets more for "parts shopping" rather than (...) (22 years ago, 20-May-02, to lugnet.build)
