Hey Y'all:

Some of you may know I have been scheming over something I call Castle
Blacktron.  I am still collecting bits and building as I go.  Many, many
custom ideas are slowly making their way into the real world via computer
generated graphics. Anyway, if you go to:

http://www.geocities.com/dalishat/lego/bt_barding.gif

(yes, there is an underscored space there)

You will get some idea of what is intended as a Castle Blacktron horse
barding. I will be pasting stickers more or less as you see onto brassoed
ninja horse bardings, which are black.  The effect is not at all bad.  I am
even considering painting some of those red horse battle helmets, or
whatever, black.  I've actually had this barding design sketched out for
ages, I suddenly felt enthusiastic about it tonight.  Nothing special about
the techniques involved -- the usual adobe illustrator vector image in cmyk,
printed to avery labels, cut with xacto, pressed into place.  I like to go
around the edges of the label with a black pen once its in place to blacken
in the white edges of the label paper itself.  Such stickers look
surprisingly good unless you happen to be 2 inches away from the surface of
the ABS.

So now I have 2 types of Castle Blacktron capes (rounded edge and inverted
scallop edges), 2 versions of Lady Blacktron (one grey background, one
black), triangle and teardrop Blacktron shields, a Blacktron cloth hanging
banner (like that of King Leo), a Blacktron tapestry (again, like King
Leo's).  Still in the works are the kinds of flags used on the HP castle
set, a Blacktron stained glass window, and a Blacktron round table. I think
that's everything I had planned in terms of custom stickers. BTW, the cloth
stuff is not actually cloth, it's still paper -- just placed between clear
plastic sheets so that it looks like TLC style rip-off plastic sheet stuff
(i.e. wings, sails, LOM space canopies, Ninja banners, etc).

In case you want to see the how-to image for Lady Blacktron, go here:

http://www.geocities.com/dalishat/lego/how-to.gif

I will more than likely make my CB stickers available as a single sheet
downloadable pdf eventually .  I might have some rules about their use, but
nothing that should trouble any of you.  But, I admit I haven't decided
anything final on this issue.

I would certainly recommend to anyone that they get into stickers for their
brick related customs, it's really quite easy and the results are fairly
pleasing.  In most cases, stickers can just be placed over existing printing
and removed at a later time if one chooses.

Ack! Geocities is messing up my direct links to those images... Instead, go to: (URL) for the screw-up, I didn't know Geocities would do this. -- Hop-Frog (23 years ago, 23-Jan-02, to lugnet.build)
