Well, I guess with the SW licensing, I have to give up hope of there ever
being a Space Police III theme anytime soon.

But it was a nice sunny day today, so I took some photos of a ship I built a
couple years ago as part of wondering what SP3 might look like if TLG ever
went back to the "Space Police" theme.

Decided on a black/gray/trans-red color scheme and a ship inspired by (a)
the Klingon Bird of Prey from Star Trek III-IV and (b) Karim Nassar's
"Titanium_ Gander" model.

It's intended for short-range inter-planetary missions and intra-atmospheric
combat.  Main weapon colors are patterned after the laser cannons in 6986
Mission Commander, an SP1 ship from 1989.

The cargo hold in the rear needs a lot of work -- it doesn't take a prisoner
pod and has too many escape hatches on the sides, but I guess the fun was in
laying out the wings and neck of the ship more than the belly/rear.

(...) Todd, Nice work! I like this ship as much for the little details as for the overall effect. Beautiful wing layout. I love the multi-level wing surfaces.. one can imagine all sorts of cool guns and engine pods and pipes and intakes and whatnot (...) (25 years ago, 28-Mar-99, to lugnet.build)

(...) That was fun. I enjoyed seeing that. Now my little brain is working overtime thinking up new stuff, but I have to go eat dinner. This might be a fun idea Todd: start an unofficial fan-created Space Police III theme either on Fibblesnork or (...) (25 years ago, 28-Mar-99, to lugnet.build)

(...) Aye, she's a sweet one at that, Captain. I could almost - _almost_ - but not quite see TLG releasing a model like that. But they would probably strip at least 20% parts off of it in their typical spartan design fashion. -- Terry K -- (25 years ago, 28-Mar-99, to lugnet.build)

Todd, I really like the lines of this ship. the slender "neck" is just great! Impressive detail all around. Keep it up! Ben -- Ben Vaughan buster@marsbase.com www.marsbase.com ---...--- The few, the proud,...the plastic. Todd Lehman (...) (25 years ago, 13-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)
