To All,

I said death to sorting this weekend and started working on a train engine
for MLTC (Michigan LEGO Train Club) GATS show in January. My model is based
on a few of the train engines on the GTW historical society, which I have
seen thorughout the years in Michigan.

There is a link to my references.

I decided to use this one:

I am not too familiar with trains, as I never even thought about them until
the 9V came out, so anyone that knows somethig about these would be great. I
am unfamiliar with the numbers, the case being 5715. is that their number,
or the engine number? Larry P. said

"I think this is a GP 40 but am not sure. Non dynamic brakes, riding on
Blomburg trucks.

A non dynamic is a good choice, it's easier to do because you don't have to
futz with the compound slopes of the dynamic brake blister..."

Here is my attempt at it.

Another question, while I am at it, so to speak, is the rounded parts on the
top of the trains, near the
black vents. Are they the smoke stacks, or intakes? I saw a few
representations of those. I think I need to add three to them here, but I am
awaiting to see some more pictures of other engines first.

I am pleased with how the nose and windows came out, and the colors, there
was no way I could do that thin red line on the windows, where the cab turns
into blue, but I tried my best on that. I will change the light gray wedges
to blue, if I keep them. I am still trying to figure out that back area. I
will add the 1x6 fence part eventually, I have to paint one white, as there
are no white ones according to Peeron. : (

I am not sure if I got the scale correct, it looks a little small, what do
you folks think? It looked great until I put the wheels on it. I had a fun
80 revisions trying to figure out how to do it in 1 plate thick bottom in
the front, with the TECHNIC plate for the wheels, but I just said heck with
it and put a two plate bottom on it instead. I will expand the tanks to be
lower, I forgot how tall the wheels are. I love the tanks and how those
rounded 1x1 with the curved parts look. I might put in a second electric
motor on it, to make it look more like the original, I just copied the back
wheels from the metroliner and am not happy with those.

I will be adding a few stickers, the GT for sure, and the 5715 in both
places, the side of the cab and the top, and the lights might go in the
front, I will have to see on it.

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

I will be building a CN train as well, I have a bunch of pictures from there
too, once I get one done, the other is just swapping colors. A few slopes,
etc.

Anyway, LMKWYT!
