  Re: Site Update (mecha!)

Thanks Dave! Yes the feet are meant to pierce the ground, this way the mecha is more stable when firing shells from the rail gun. Right now, when I place the mecha on a carpet it sinks in only 1 cm, but off course carpet and real-world terrain are (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

(...) leg/foot design of this mecha in particular; how well would those small feet do at full-scale on real terrain? For the probable weight of such a vehicle they seem likely to pierce the ground--is this a factor to consider in design? I don't (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Site Update (mecha!)

Thanks Kyle! Actually the mecha is quite stable on most, non-slick surfaces such as carpet, paper, and etc. However it does begin to slip and fall on very slick surfaces, such as a kitchen table. (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

Yea! Mass-destruction at it's greatest! Does it support it's weight well or does it fall after 2 minutes (My mecha have been know to do this...) BTW The pictures suck!   Re: Site Update (mecha!)

Thanks Bryce! It is about a foot tall, I guess. My inspiration was just to build a really large 6 legged mecha, but inspiration also came from Masamune Shirow; ever seen Appleseed the anime, notice that big Mobile Platform mecha at the end... (...) Two came in since then. A third wrote back and said he was stuck on vacation far away in an icestorm with limited slow Internet access and wasn't going to be able to complete the ballot.
