Re: Use of cloth in MOCs

I think my dragon is going to be too big to effectively use the cape idea. The capes would probably make good contour feathers or large scales, but I'm not crazy enough to try that. As for Vader's cape, it would be cheaper (but less pure) to cut up (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Use of cloth in MOCs

I think the suggestion about the plastic film wings is the most feasible one for the scale I'm working. I think I know how to implement this. I just have to acquire a number of those wings. I'll probably carry through with the bat like wings as (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New (well sort of) MOC: Guardian II

Hey man I like the blue and tan color scheme, seems to go well together!! That is one serious beam saber. Well, I guess it would'nt be considered a saber, more like a beam broadsword!! It looks like you've been buying some new AT sets (minifig). (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Gundam Reunion

(...) I'm retrofitting new style heads onto all except 03. 04 has already had three different head designs. I'll take more pictures when I'm done with this restyling. There's just something about the head. One day you make one that you think looks (...) (23 years ago, 27-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Use of cloth in MOCs

(...) I built a prototype wing for my ornithopter using capes and 1x plates. It worked quite well but was very fragile, and I didn't have enough capes to do both wings. The holes in the capes aren't spaced so that you can use both and keep it flat, (...) (23 years ago, 27-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Yellowing of white bricks/plates

I'm just learning this stuff, so don't quote me. The plastic is damaged by light at the more energetic end of the spectrum: ultraviolet. After time, it reflects less of the visible light at that end of the spectrum: white plastic starts to absorb (...) (23 years ago, 27-Feb-02, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Yellowing of white bricks/plates

(...) I would guess that sun/UV damage is cumulative. Possibly the reason that adjacent pieces don't fade equally is that some of them have had more previous exposure than others. Another possibility, as you mention, is manufacturing variances. The (...) (23 years ago, 27-Feb-02, to lugnet.build)

Re: I finally finished my roller coaster!

oh, cool....wow....(jaw hits floor)... One question, though. I'm not too well versed on track, but how did you get all the curves in the track done (i.e. curving up and down?) It's truly an incredible piece of work... -Scott Lyttle (23 years ago, 27-Feb-02, to lugnet.build)

Re: Use of cloth in MOCs

Well, your a pretty darn good builder, so chances are if you are going to use cloth, it will be done nicely. Mayby a whole slew of SW capes, like from Qui-gon and the red ones from the Imperial Shuttle may judt do it for you. They have little holes (...) (23 years ago, 27-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Use of cloth in MOCs

I wanted the same thing when I started working on the DR8CO and Razor. One thought I had, maybe you can make it work, is capes. The little minifig capes, all overlapped. Could make a cool feathering effect. I thought of using the Ewok hang glider (...) (23 years ago, 27-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)
