Re: [MOC] Baja Unlimited Class Truck

(...) Did you notice on the cover of the TIE Fighter/Y-wing, the Y-wing's starboard nacelle dome is out of alignment? I'm not usually bugged by such things, but on a product package, where everything should be perfect, it bothered me. Steve (25 years ago, 22-Jun-99, to lugnet.build)

  [MOC] Baja Unlimited Class Truck

Have a peek at (URL) for a look at my new Baja Truck. There are 3 60K images. Sorry about the big pictures, I couldn't get them to look decent compressed. As always, comments and suggestions are welcome... Cheers, Ralph Hempel - P.Eng ---...--- (...) (25 years ago, 21-Jun-99, to lugnet.build)

Lego Holocaust art (Was: can someone help me identify these parts?)

(...) These were all custom jobs; the person who put the boxes together is Zbigniew Libera, a Polish artist expressing his views on the recent trivialization of the Holocaust.   Re: new (to me) use for worms

(...) Yes. (...) I did not know that. I've accepted over time that a number of things in car suspensions must work simply by having room to wiggle a bit, but that this particulalr problem is avoided *that* simply explains a lot. (Wait till you see (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jun-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: new (to me) use for worms

Just as an aside, this post made me do a double take before reading it... I was going "what?? Lego doesn't make worms, just snakes and scorpions" (25 years ago, 18-Jun-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: new (to me) use for worms

(...) If I'm understanding the workings, what is being suggested is to use the worm as a slip coupling (which just happens to have a worm screw). If you look at a cars drive shaft, you will see that it is in two parts so that it can change length. (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jun-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: new (to me) use for worms

(...) Interesting idea. But in thinking about it (without actually prototyping), I have a problem. You propose to use the worm on the drive axle, right? And the idea is that the worm can slide a little bit to and fro to adjust for the axles movement (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jun-99, to lugnet.build)

new (to me) use for worms

I recently noticed that the fact that worm gears slide freely on an axle, which I've just regarded as slightly odd, can actually be of some use; to my knowledge, it's the only part that does so while being rotationally locked to the axle. What I (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jun-99, to lugnet.build)
