Just found a great new book for kids and old LEGO nuts like myself.
Guess what? It is all about a meteorite mission in the Antarctic! An
exploratory team leaves from Lego Space Port  Centre for the North Pole
to search for meteorites.

Exerts:

"Meteor Alert! a massive meteor shower has just entered Earth's
atmosphere! According to our readings, the meteorites didn't burn up.
Many of them have landed in the Arctic Circle."

"We'll set up a base tomorrow, said the captain. Wherever those
meteorites landed, we'll find them."

"Scooter had been traveling for about 15 minutes, when all at once he
heard a loud noise above his head. He looked up. Glowing lights streaked
across the sky. Another meteor shower was bombarding the Arctic!"

"And so early the next morning, the Caterpillar Outpost set off to
search for the meteorite. Inside was all the equipment they needed.
There was even a portable laboratory."

"When the team gathered near the meteorite, Doc was not the only one to
look surprised. "Wow!" gasped Crystal.....Cosmo took a deep breath and
walked up to the meteorite. "What can you see?" cried Crystal. "Make
your report." ordered the captain. "You won't believe this...," Cosmo
began."

What an awesome 3rd grade read full of meteorite facts. Beautiful and
Incredible illustrations and best of all there is a whole line of Arctic
Legos including meteorites to go along with the learning.

The book is only $3.95 titled MISSION TO THE ARCTIC, published by
Dorling Kindersley Readers   (www.dk.com) "Fun age-appropriate stories
are illustrated with stunning computer-generated artwork. The books
provide a multilevel reading program. bridging the gap between education
and entertainment."

"When a mysterious meteor shower lands in the Arctic, Captain Ross and
his fearless team must investigate..."

I arranged it so that when I was playing the penguins gathered all the
meteorites up together and  made nests with them.

Reading and playing alone:  Paul Gessler
