at a Brickfest?  -[Your contest will probably be as close as I get to one
for a quite some time.]

Since I don't live in the US, I thought that a web based contest would be the
best way to go. Sort of like the IRTC competition (www.irtc.org). People would
take pictures of their model, if they like, also make DAT-files, renderings etc,
write a little something about it, then submit it. After the building/submission
period, I'd make everything into a webpage, and then people could vote for best
overall model, best use of pieces, best model from box xxxx etc. Perhaps also
commenting on the models.

I never really know what I 'm going to come with when I start  rearranging a
set after initially following the instructions..  That's the pleasure.  For
me, this will be as more of a challenge to myself than a contest with
others.

That's what I had in mind!

I don't have any "intact" BASIC sets right now.  I will probably have a
chance to look around to try and find a medium size BASIC in the next week
or so.    What size set or about what piece count do you have in mind?  I
wouldn't mind getting a 4225 so that I could get a copy of the MM FL picture
you posted.  Is this too small  for what you have in mind?  I don't know if
it is available here.

No, there will be no limits. No set is too big (or too small) but perhaps I'd
limit the use of several boxes in a model to just two, because this competition
should be more of a creativity-inspiring experience than trying to build huge
models. By using only two boxes (or just one) it will be easier to try to
recreate the model.

Perhaps this will dissappoint some of you, but I'm not planning to have any
prices (well, a "winners graphic" or something). This is more of a thing that
should be fun for everyone, and if you don't want to spend lots of money without
winning prices, buy the smallest set you can find!
Since some people obviously are interested (well, two so far :-D) I'll try to
get this thing going, before the summer, hopefully.

Limits do push creativity and exercise one's imagination.   This is good for
everyone.  Thanks for suggesting it.
Come on people, join the fun!
