The Eastern-Block’s “Red Bear”, pictured here with some well-aged but
tried-and-true support vehicles, has been long-feared by X-1 Patrol Craft
pilots. This heavy-duty vessel, bristling with high-powered weaponry made to
incinerate Galaxy Explorer hulls, eats X-1s for breakfast, and often follows
this with a plethora of Space Scooters for second breakfast, a baker’s-dozen of
Cosmic Chargers for elevensies and a tossed salad of Cosmic Comets, Space Darts
and Lunar Patrol Craft for lunch. What’s on the supper and dinner menu? Space
Cruisers and Starfleet Voyagers. A wing of nimble Starfires is often the best
deterrent for the heavy Red Bear, assuming pilots willing to face the
particle-beam fangs of the Red Bear are available.
