<somewhere in Imperial held space>

Greetings Moff Covenant.

I bring you the requested update on the V.O.W. Project, specifically the new
Vengeance Class Prototype.

Place your palm here please...

<pause>

Thank you.

What's this??  It is a new security protocol to prevent the information I am
about to share from falling into Rebel hands.

Images of the new vessel can be found here:

Images will be viewable once processed with the new protocol.

<clears throat>

Project V.O.W.
Also known as Vengeance of Wrath.

This top-secret project was recently undertaken by several interested parties
as a way to counter the success of the Rebel Alliance.  Specifically the
success of their snubfighters.

It is believed that their 'success' is partly due to the skill of their pilots
and partly due to their equipment.  They have successfully used a wide variety
of fighter craft to fulfill their objectives on both space and air borne craft
and space and ground installations.

Their greatest assets in these forays have been the Y-Wing fighter/bomber and
more recently the formidable X-Wing fighter.  It is agreed that these fighters
are vastly superior to any Imperial fighter.  This is due to their acceptance
of shield generators and hyperdrive equipped craft.  We are even getting
reports of new fighters being tested.

This program was devised to apply these qualities to Imperial Craft.  There are
many who believe that just throwing more Tie Fighters at them is futile and
doomed to fail.  Both pilots and ships should not be disposable.

However, this vessel is not meant for new pilots.  So far, only the best of the
elite squadrons have been chosen to test this new craft.  And the feedback
received so far is very positive.

Let me give you details first...

Imperial Vengeance Class Prototype Super Heavy Fighter

Two man crew:  1 Pilot and 1 Gunner/Engineer.

Shield equipped - 3 projectors each top and bottom

Hyperdrive equipped (no backup) and nav computer equipped

Consumables for 1 standard week

Speed and maneuverability comparable to an X-Wing

Weapon Systems as follows:

2 x Quad Chain Cannons - forward firing (8 total laser cannons)

2 x Dual Ion Cannon Arrays - forward firing (4 total ion cannons)

     2 x Micro Torpedo Launchers - forward firing (4 missiles - 2 each)

2 x Missile Launchers - forward firing (12 Adv. Conc. or 6 Adv. Torp.)
                                            (default load)

2 x Blaster Cannons - rear firing (2 total blaster cannons)

     2 x Micro Torpedo Launchers - rear firing (4 missiles - 2 each)

1 x Missile Launcher - rear firing (4 Adv. Conc.)

     2 x ECM Launchers - rear firing (4 charges - 2 each)

Due to the increased power demand separate power generators have been installed
for the weapon systems.  This also is the reason why there is a second crewman
needed.  One person can pilot the craft, but at greatly reduced flight capacity.

As I mentioned, results of the first few flight tests have been positive.  The
best results have come about from the test of the Chain Cannons.  With the
addition of the separate power generators, the cannons can be used almost
continuously.  The only drawback is that no other cannon can be used at the
same time.  It was discovered by one crew that the system could be programmed
to fire  the other cannons between cycles.  This drawback only applies if used
continuously.  The best pilots will find other ways around this.

With the addition of shielding and a nav computer/hyperdrive we can now fight
back at the Rebels using their own tricks against them.  It is common knowledge
that our fighters are commonly both without shields and hyperdrives.  At
present we have to deploy a carrier or other vessel that has docking facilities
for our fighters.  That presents many problems this vessel will fix.

Imagine the Rebel's faces when our fighters jump in on their convoys and/or
fleets.  Once they figure out what is going on, they will in turn have to
devote more resources to protecting what little they have.  Their resources
will become even more stretched.  This may even reduce the number of hit and
run sorties they perform...

Now imagine these new fighters with a corresponding carrier...

More on that later Moff Covenant.

First off, if this is a repeat post...oops...hit the NO, DELETE button by
accident!!

Long winded, but fun to do.  Please check out the pics once they clear
Brickshelf.  I had fun writing that bit...8^)

Any BrickFest bound (.Space or .StarWars)readers:  this vessel will accompany
me down to BF.  This is my first MOC posted here on Lugnet.  I will post more
if anyone asks for it...

Thanks
