Hi, everybody!

I was recently commissioned to build two sculptures of Marlin and Nemo from Disney’s movie “Finding Nemo”. Marlin is about 8 inches long, and Nemo is about 6 inches long.

I knew that making the vertical stripes on the clown fish would make the design tricky, but the task was made even trickier when I recieved an order of 1x1 orange plates (of which I previously had none) ... They were a nonstandard yellowy-orange color! (A subsequent search through Peeron seems to indicate that that normal “flame orange” 1x1 plates have never been sold.) :) Needless to say after a lot of jumper plates and 1x2 plates later, the models are done.

To accomodate their vertical colored stripes, They are constructed almost entirely studs-sideways. That is, other than their faces and top fins, the models essentially rest on their sides, with all of the studs facing horizontally.

They were loads of fun to design and build, and I am considering selling it as a custom kit, so if anyone is interested, feel free to contact me.

(...) How cute! I'm amazed at how you managed to make everything 'organic' - and if you built a Dory...aw man. Really nice work! Joe Meno .space paparazzi! (19 years ago, 14-Dec-05, to lugnet.build.sculpture, FTX)
