    The "44" —Tony Hafner
My first ship in a long time that is actually armed is (URL) the Sheriff's "44">. It's the main tool of law enforcement in the New Kansas system. (6 URLs) Tony Hafner (URL) www.hafhead.com> (20 years ago, 3-Mar-05, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.space, FTX) !!

        Re: The "44" —Dave Schuler
(...) Very nice! I wonder if I can make an Apocryphal version... I particularly love the large engine pods. Dave! (20 years ago, 4-Mar-05, to lugnet.space, FTX)

         Re: The "44" —Tony Hafner
(...) Ouch- you're killing me! Hmm, though it would be interesting to see how you make the translation. I see this model as defined by certain parts- the lattice wings and big curvy nose pieces in particular, and those would have to be done totally (...)         Re: The "44" —Ley Ward
Hey Tony, I'm enjoying this one. That's a great use for those lattice pieces. While I find the black part on the front a tad heavy visually, I can see it as shielding for the craft. Kind of like those 5mph bumpers they had to tack onto cars in the (...) (20 years ago, 5-Mar-05, to lugnet.space, FTX)

         Re: The "44" —Tony Hafner
(...) Yes, the big curves do dominate the nose of the ship visually. But you gotta have plenty of room for coolant and the big magnetic whatchamadoos. Those are the only guns on the ship, and the idea is that the ship is built around them. (...) (...) (20 years ago, 7-Mar-05, to lugnet.space, FTX)

        Re: The "44" —Keith Goldman
(...) New Kansas!? Children of the Space Corn? Great ship Tony, great name, but I'm surprised you didn't go with .38 Special. Guess you wanted the added firepower. I really like the canopy area, good solid design. For some reason the ship reminds me (...) (20 years ago, 6-Mar-05, to lugnet.space, FTX)

         Re: The "44" —Tony Hafner
(...) Gads, that's a horrible image. I was raised on Smokey and the Bandit, too. I was picturing more of a smuggler's broken-down freighter like in the Wild West episode of the original Battlestar Galactica, but I kind of like the Burt Reynolds (...)         Re: The "44" —Tom Dickson
(...) Nice! Have you tried doing the studless engines using the same parts you did for the cargo space? Then it would be studless and flat, too. (20 years ago, 6-Mar-05, to lugnet.space, FTX)

        Re: The "44" —Tony Hafner
(...) The parts over the cargo space are a plate taller, so there would be a larger flat surface exposed above the radar dish. That could possibly be solved by mounting the dish differently and moving it up a bit, but the engineering gets (...) (20 years ago, 7-Mar-05, to lugnet.space, FTX)
