This summer at Brickworld, Ill be hosting a train building challenge. Through
this challenge, you will get a taste of what it is like to design a set with
limited parts availability, much like the designers underwent while working on
the 10183 Hobby Train Set.
The rules are simple:
1: Download LDD 2.0 or purchase a copy of 10183 LEGO©
Hobby Trains (you could alternatively use your own bricks). If you are simply
building virtually, you must filter your LDD palette to that of the 10183 set
and ensure that you do not use more pieces than are available in one copy of
the set by monitoring your inventory. Use
Bricklinks inventory of
the set for reference.
2: Build anything Train related. This can range from stations to engines.
3: Bring your printouts (screenshot) or real models to Brickworld. (You must be
a Brickworld attendee to participate). If you are building virtually, please
bring your .lxf file with you. There will be a laptop running LDD 2.0 so others
can view your models.
4: Enter as many times as youd like!
The models will be judged by a panel of three people that I will choose. If you
are attending Brickworld, and would like to be a judge, let me know
jeramy.spurgeon@DELETErailbricks.com. (be mindful that judges cant enter the
contest however!)
The beauty of this challenge is that you dont even need real bricks to enter.
If, for some reason, you are unable to get LDD 2.0 to run on your computer, feel
free to create your model in LDRAW! The more entries, the better, but remember
that you must limit your parts selection to only those found in one set of the
10183 Hobby Trains. If you have any questions, please ask!
