Well for those of you who pre-ordered my upcoming 1949-80's Lego Set/Parts
History CD last year, good news, I've finally finished the text portion.....
it's 1,030 pages!! (650 pages on Lego sets and parts, 380 pages on a Lego
Insurance Price Guide). Now I am working on merging the text with pictures into
PDF files. There will be hundreds of pictures, with many that you've never seen
before.
I was hoping to have it done for BRICKFEST 2006, but there is too much work to
be done with merging the pictures with the text. I hope to be done by
September/October.
This task was much larger than I thought when I started 3 years ago. And it
will have some items that are not even in the Lego Archives in Billund. There
will also be photos of items that are not in the Lego Collections/Vault.
I had a lot of help from fellow Lego AFOLs such as (USA) Eric Strand, Dave
Shifflett, Jim Hughes and Clark Stephens, (Germany) Kurt Richter and Ben Beneke,
(Colombia) Manuel Cueto, (Britain) Phil Traviss and Steve Scott, (Denmark)
Morten Frost and Kirsten Stadelhofer, (France) Christian Servant, (Italy) Luca
Giannitti, and (Sweden) about driving on the left side of the road in Sweden...
Anders Isaksson. Thanks all!!
Now many of you would have preferred an actual book instead of a CD. Well the
cost of a 1,000+ page book would have been very expensive, and a publisher would
have basically wanted a collector book with set and price information, and
little else. So you will be getting a lot more than a collector book would
have.
Plus, I will make it easy for you to print your own copy of the CD easily. Plus
since there are many old Lego mysteries still to be uncovered, you can update
your printed copy of the Lego CD with updates that I will make available as new
parts or sets come to light. This way you will be able to keep your printed
document up to date with periodic updates.
Instead you will be getting detailed information about how parts changed over
the last 55 years.... why Cellulose Acetate parts were still in production in
the USA in 1970, even though they disappeared from Europe in 1963.... what are
the 11 Town Plan boards produced by TLG... why Lugnet shown sets #223, #244,
#317, #326, #536, #630 and #835 sets are a mystery and were never seen in any
catalog (they were USA Department store exclusives!).
Learn the mystery of the Italian Minitalia sets, the strange and perplexing
European wooden box sets of 1957-78, the cheese and cereal promotional sets of
the late 1960's and 1970's.... the Danish made New York Worlds Fair sets of
1964-65.... learn about all the sets and parts going all the way back to 1949.
Plus as an added bonus, there will be a chapter devoted to Lego parts exclusive
by region. Learn what parts were only ever sold in USA/Canada (green Cellulose
Acetate plates), or only in Denmark (the 1x1 round Esso Oil cans), only in
continental Europe (blue Cellulose Acetate plates), or only in Britain/Australia
(solid yellow garage doors).

VI - LEGO INSURANCE PRICE LIST
The final price of the CD will be about $25 USA, along with a shipping charge
(depending on location).
I have a list of pre-reserved Lego CD's. If you want to get onto that list,
send me an EMAIL (with "LEGO CD" in the title). The AFOLs who are on the
pre-order list will get a special CD with a different design on it, than for
general circulation.
EMAIL at: istokg@earthlink.net
Eventually I will be selling a different version on Amazon.com, so get your AFOL
special version by pre-ordering (no money down!).
Thank you!

P.S. If you think it would be a good idea to have chapter tabs for your own
binder, or if you want a Lego cover/title picture for that binder, drop me a
line. If the demand is there, I will consider having some printed up.
