Hey guys:
Thanks again for being there... and thanks also for forgiving my tardiness (in
both coming to the meeting and for this email). As always, its fun to get
together, show off our MOCs, sort for pieces aaaaandto keep playing while some
passerby scratch their heads and/or smile and (silently) wish they could join
in. All under the watchful eyes of the security guards, of course. (Just wait
till next time -- well bring a Bionicle standee.)
WANNA JOIN? You are hereby invited to enroll in the New York City Lego Users
Group -- or NYCLUG (pronounced NIGH-klug). Were a small group (right now) of
New York City (and suburbs) residents who have a common hobby -- Lego! Weve
held two meetings to date and are looking to grow. If youre a New Yorker who
has MOCs to show off or pieces to trade, please email me at onedaycnn@aol.com.
Items to note:
1) All agreed that each NYCLUG member present should try to recruit those
members who have yet to show up to a meeting. It should be noted that there are
folks on the NYCLUG list who cant necessarily make it for any number of
reasons, and we respect that. However, the people who started off with a Hey,
Id like to join in the beginning but havent responded to subsequent emails
are fair game, methinks, for a followup email. In the coming days and weeks,
well split up recruitment efforts among the core group.
2) All discussed next NYCLUG event (besides regular meetings). Ideas thrown out
were: Build event at major venue, such as a Toys R Us; display event at a venue
relevant to individual MOCs -- i.e. Jonathan at FDNY headquarters, etc.
3) Logo. Ian has some ideas, will continue to hash out, perhaps for discussion
at next meeting.
4) All discussed field trips to Lego Stores. These would be to the Lego
stores in either Paramus, NJ or Nyack, NY. As this is a diffcult thing to
arrange Sid agreed to alert everyone via this list for the next time he heads up
that way.
5) Next meeting at Sids house. This still may not be easiest for most, but
arrangements for transport from Brooklyn or from the Ferry Terminal to Sids
house were discussed and agreed upon. In any event, should be in late May or
early June; barbecue and fair weather (we hope) will make this easier to digest.
(And there would be at least two more Islanders who could come to a meeting,
wed hope!)
If I missed something, feel free to reply all to this email.
Play well,
Sid
