[Followups set to lugnet.admin.general]

Three new newsgroups in the .off-topic hierarchy have just been created.
For background on what has led up to this, please visit the following
super-monster of a thread:

   http://www.lugnet.com/news/thread.cgi?lugnet.off-topic.fun:1436

(To make a long shory stort, the .off-topic.fun group is showing signs of
outgrowing itself.  Plus, some other fun things are too juicy to resist.)

CHARTER/PURPOSE
===============

   lugnet.off-topic.* (hierarchy):
      Off-topic (non-LEGO®) discussions.

-> lugnet.off-topic.geek (group):
      Geeking and geek toys (computing, games, peripherals, hacking,
      science, etc.):  discussions of a generally (but not necessarily
      always) positive and serious or helpful nature.

-> lugnet.off-topic.pun (group):
      Puns and punning (the usually humorous use of a word in such a way
      as to suggest two or more of its meanings or the meaning of another
      word similar in sound) for incorrigible punsters; puns typically
      made or directed here as follow-ups to messages appearing in other
      groups (although puns are not required to migrate here).

-> lugnet.off-topic.qotd (group):
      Special "Quote of the Day" group:  Messages posted here start as
      follow-ups to messages appearing in other LUGNET groups, the purpose
      being to highlight an unexpectedly humorous, profound, witty/wry, or
      ridiculously silly comment for general consumption and enjoyment;
      NOTE: This group is not for making people look stupid (use common
      sense), and it is not for posting maxims, proverbs, profundities,
      etc. from outside sources; Instead, originality and (more
      importantly) spontaneity are the key ideas here.
