New MOC: Moller M400 Skycar —Mark Chan
I have completed a minifig scale version of the M400 Skycar by Moller International. (URL) model contains various SNOT (Studs Not On Top) techniques, with several 2-3-4-5 and "half stud" transformations in a small space. The front nacelles and nose (...)         RE: New MOC: Moller M400 Skycar —Bram Lambrecht
(...) Great interpretation! All the SNOT is quite admirable. What do you mean by 2-3-4-5 transformations? Width changes? Mind sharing any innovative techniques you came up with? I look forward to your variant too! --Bram Bram Lambrecht bram@cwru.edu (...) (23 years ago, 23-Sep-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: New MOC: Moller M400 Skycar —Mark Chan
(...) 2-3-4-5 is the width variation "stacked" on top of each other (or stacked "sideways" since there is a lot of SNOT). In this picture you can see spacing widths of 6,5,4,3,2 and 1 stud width, all centered along the vertical axis, and all (...) (23 years ago, 24-Sep-01, to lugnet.build)

snippage Ohh cool! that looks great! lot's of SNOT too, great job, I think the engines should be a little more defined though... -Geordan- (23 years ago, 23-Sep-01, to lugnet.build)

RE: New MOC: Moller M400 Skycar —Bram Lambrecht
(...) I agree...I think the engines should be a little bigger also, but I'm not exactly sure how to accomplish that. If only LEGO made a larger variety of cylinder sizes...1.5 and 3 stud diameters would be great! --Bram Bram Lambrecht bram@cwru.edu (...) (23 years ago, 23-Sep-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: New MOC: Moller M400 Skycar —Mark Chan
(...) The racer variant has better engines (teaser - I used the grey barrels from the UCS X-Wing).... I tried to reverse the direction of the 2x2 cylinders in this model to make the nacelle front look more "open", but I couldn't find a way to do it (...) (23 years ago, 24-Sep-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: New MOC: Moller M400 Skycar —John J. Ladasky, Jr.
(...) appears to have been eaten by the Lugnet news server, so I'll try again. First of all, I'm going to write what I always write when someone comes out with an MOC of an object I've been working on myself, to wit: GRRRR! Will I *ever* get to be (...)          Re: New MOC: Moller M400 Skycar —Mark Chan
(...) Keep on trying! I'd love to see your MOC. First isn't always better - modifications to existing models are what makes LUGNET great - and I've learned a lot from studying the designs of great "small space" model makers such as Bram Lambrecht.       (...) Definitely famous on my hard drive. You are one of several LUGNET contributors that has their own subdirectory on my HDD to store my favorite images of their MOC's. I usually just put a file name with the creator's name in parenthesis, but (...) (23 years ago, 28-Sep-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: New MOC: Moller M400 Skycar —Mark Chan
I've posted my second version of the M400 Skycar here: (URL) isn't as technically challenging a design as the first one, but it does look closer to The Real Thing. Play Well! Mark Chan (23 years ago, 30-Sep-01, to lugnet.build)

WOW! Great job. I like the 2n version a whole lot more. It looks extremely close to the real Skycar. Again, excellent work. ;-) (...) (23 years ago, 30-Sep-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: New MOC: Moller M400 Skycar —John J. Ladasky, Jr.
(...) It does indeed. And it looks even more similar to my half-completed model than your first one. You've switched over to using the old-style Lego airplane tail parts, which I also use. You still don't show how you placed the retractable front (...) (23 years ago, 30-Sep-01, to lugnet.build)

        MOC: M450 SkyRacer —Mark Chan
(...) I've posted the M450 SkyRacer as an entry to Paul Hartzog's HoverThing contest, but his server was down yesterday so I don't know if I qualify (maybe he will still let me enter??)          Re: M450 SkyRacer —Mark Chan
(...) Thanks for the comments! The nose is actually very sturdy, I've posted construction notes on brickshelf. ((URL) can see the multiple ways the nose is attached to the fuselage. There is no wobble in any direction. P.S. Regarding the HoverThing (...) (23 years ago, 29-Oct-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.contests, lugnet.town, lugnet.space)

Re: MOC: M450 SkyRacer "Instructions" Posted —Mark Chan
I've posted Construction Notes on the M450 SkyRacer on Brickshelf. While these are not step by step instructions, I think there are enough pictures to demonstrate how most of this model was made.
