Hi Tore,
Sorry for not replying earlier. I took off for a short holiday right after
posting the message.

Thank you. I'm relieved to hear it hasn't blown up on anyone's kitchen ... so
far. On a related note, I tried installing it on a machine running Windows ME
and it seemed fine. BUT I did not run the program.

Let me provide some more detail on the philosophy behind the application.
When designing something Lego-connected, modular should always be considered
first. But modular is not the only characteristic of Lego. Ease of use and fun
potential are other two important factors. One of my main short-term objectives
is to define a proper application philosophy that allows for these 3 factors to
come together gracefully.
Referring to modularity specifically, I am thinking at the moment to create a
"mother" application that provides basic animation services to different
scripts, both minifig and general. It will allow the user to set things such as
application paths or rendering parameters (L3p & POV). But it is still unclear
what to include where, because allowing for third-party add-ons, be it
stand-alone apps or anything else, is paramount. And the point of bringing all
that together is that it is should be easy and fun to play with. Repeat ad
nauseum and you'll get a picture of where I stand at the moment.
Incidentally, any advice or pointer to resources dealing with high-level
application design would be appreciated, BTW ;o)
Anyway, here are some more defined tasks which I am poking at at the moment.
* Application design
- I am trying to come up with the basic structure for a modular system aimed at
automating Ldraw animation renderings by tying together many different existing
apps in a way that makes sense from the user's and the developer's perspectives.
* Gui redesign
- I'm working on a slightly more daunting but much more efficient application
path management system
- Rendering parameters will likely not be application-centered anymore, but
rather animation-centered (i.e. L3P and POV parameters might be all mixed
together)
- Related to the above, camera (now) and light (later) managemente will be much
more sophisticated for instance, the user can use Ldglite's "cheesy scene
modeler" feature to place the camera
http://ldglite.sourceforge.net/ldglitepov.html
* LMM include
- Add all the previous features (i.e. accessories, multiple actors, stage,
etc.) - Will probably come in batches.
- Keyframing (basic at first)
Cheers
