That is the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space) from the TV program
Doctor Who.
Recently revived by the BBC its an excellent time travel TV series the TARDIS
is the time machine - it is disguised as a police telephone box from the 1950s,
its camouflage broke when he was visiting that era and has never been fixed. If
youre in the US the new shows are coming to the Sci-Fi channel in March. If
youre in Europe Im sure a local channel will pick it up soon, as its great.
Why is it in the diorama? Well back in the 70s, when I watched Dr. Who as a
kid, a lot of the plots were directly inspired by Lovecraftian stories. Lots of
creepy monsters and aliens with tentacles and evil intent. I stuck him on there
as homage to these shows. Apologies as really only the British and Sci-fi fans
would have clue what it is!
Cheers,
Mark
