They're not actually broken in plain text format -- Chris was merely confused
by seeing the spaces and thought they were broken.

It really shouldn't be a problem.
But if you choose plain text and omit the <>'s around the URL, make sure that
you don't place a punctuation or other character like "." or "!" or or ")"
after the URL, because some news/mail clients aren't clever enough to remove
the puncuation and people will think you posted the wrong link (technically you
did if you include a "." at the end of the URL and it wasn't actually part of
the URL).
