   Hi all, recently we receive quite a number of requests from individual users to have their real names and/or profile pages removed from search engine result pages.      (...) No, because the news server is unaware of membership and profiles. That's why posting through NNTP always requires the email authentication process.    (...) I am of the opinion that having your real name attached to your posts cuts down on the amount of trolling and silly flame wars. People are much more likely to get involved in flame wars if they can hide behind an alias. I think that is what (...) (16 years ago, 19-Feb-09, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

   Honestly, using people's real names is part of what I always liked about LUGNET-- when someone says "Did you see that new model by Edgar Jones?" it's more personal than when you say "Did you see that new model by ButtonBlaster26?"
