I just posted a lengthy message and it seemed to take forever (11 minutes,
actually) before it finally showed up on the main news page. While I was
waiting and growing more anxious, since the activity on lugnet has been
expecially slow today, I thought maybe something was wrong. Articles were
being served, but not accepted. Remembering something like this had
happened before, I looked for emergency contact information, and found:
http://news.lugnet.com/announce/?n=680 - sounded like what might be
happening now.
Anyway, finally my post appeared, so I'm just going to post a suggestion
that there should be a more obvious way of finding out who to notify about
problems. It turned out I didn't need it this time, but it is difficult to
find this info, should you need it.
Also in the thread above was another idea that hasn't been reposted in this
group: http://news.lugnet.com/general/?n=20203 - perhaps there should be a
lugnet status server somewhere, so that if there seems to be a problem, a
quick check of the (separate) status server might determine whether there
really is one. That would also be a good place to store contact
information, should the regular news server be down.
