Request to move .mecha —Mark Neumann
We (the curators of .mecha, Mark Neumann and Eric Sophie) have been talking for a while amongst ourselves about moving .mecha to a location that makes it easier to find mecha related stuff on Lugnet. I am formally requesting that .mecha be moved (...) (19 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Request to move .mecha —Eric Sophie
(...) I second the above statement and endorse it fully. I would also ask any and all members of the Mecha Building communinty, aka, newsgroup readers to lend their support by posting along to this message thread. The only other issue I would like (...)         Re: Request to move .mecha —Jason Coronado
(...) make it so, number one! sounds like an excellent idea. i think there should also be a "sci-fi" category to replace space and mecha since those themes follow under that category. either way, it makes no difference to me. (19 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Request to move .mecha —Ross Crawford
(...) Another possibility is leaving it where it is, but providing a link on the .space page (similar to SciBrick@ and StarWars@). ROSCO (19 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Request to move .mecha —Samarth Moray
(...) Yes, this is exactly what I was thinking about. I think it'd be a lot simpler than having the entire newsgroup moved, and yet retain the function you want-- namely, to have people looking for space be able to see mecha as well since they're so (...)         Re: Request to move .mecha —William R. Ward
(...) NOOOO! It will then show up whenever you browse Space. For people who don't care about Mecha but do care about Space, it makes the Web interface less useful. It's bad enough that many of the .mecha posters crosspost everything to .space as it (...) (19 years ago, 30-Mar-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Request to move .mecha —Dave Johann
(...) Eric, I would ask that you sit tight and actually email the admins about this rather than provoke some sort of flame war. (...) I'm not going to touch this. I promised other people I wouldn't. Watch what you ask for Eric. It might hurt things (...) (19 years ago, 19-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Request to move .mecha —Eric Sophie
(...) Email goes unseen and hides inaction. I also should be able to ask hard questions without an agenda or some sort of desire to start trouble. I resent your insinuation that I am trying to start a flame war that is ridiculous. I'll simply wait (...) (19 years ago, 19-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Request to move .mecha —Dave Johann
(...) Email also prevents miscommunication. It provides tangible proof that you've attempted to contact the admins without it appearing that there is a problem. As far as I can see, there is no problem, hence the need for a less inflamatory post (...) (19 years ago, 19-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Request to move .mecha —Eric Sophie
Come on Dave, I don't want to argue. Please just leave me alone. e (19 years ago, 19-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Request to move .mecha —Eric Sophie
I made this post out of frustration, and without consulting my co-curator. Please cancel this post: (URL) you. Eric Sophie Member # 1051 (19 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Request to move .mecha —Larry Pieniazek
(...) if I missed one. Going forward, it's not necessary to post cancel requests, you can mail them to any admin. It's not really WRONG to post the request, I suppose, but it's a bit cluttering. (19 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Request to move .mecha —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Some informal, unofficial feedback. The admins have bounced this around a bit. As we see it there are 3 main options: - leave mecha where it is, at build.mecha - move mecha to a new top level group, like .trains (your request explains that you (...)         Re: Request to move .mecha —Frank Filz
(...) One thing also to point out, you can put a spotlight for any group on any page, so it would be quite possible to put a lugnet.build.mecha spotlight on the lugnet.space page. Frank (19 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Request to move .mecha —Duane Hess
(...) Interesting. I did not know that, or if I did I've forgotten about it. Is the embedded spotlight dynamic? If I post with an embedded spotlight will it update as new posts are spotlighted? -Duane (19 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

Re: Request to move .mecha —Frank Filz
(...) I would assume so. When you create an FTX formatted post, it turns the post into an FTX page. Any valid FTX should be useable, and any dynamic FTX (such as NewsSpotlight) should continue to be dynamic. Frank (19 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Request to move .mecha —Duane Hess
(...) My two cents here... I'm not an admin and this just my opinion. If I recall correctly, Space gets it's own newsgroup because it is an official subtheme. Mecha is not an official subtheme and unfortunately gets buried in the .Build newsgroup. I (...) (19 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)
