The simplest way around this is for the server to accept a message, then send
a quick confirmation e-mail to the poster listed in the From: header.  This
e-mail contains a special URL which will authenticate or "release" the message
into the pool of active messages.  Click that URL, then click "Post It" and
you're all set.

Todd,
I know you didn't ask for suggestions and probably don't want any,
but I'm going to throw one out anyway.  Would it be possible to
concatenate the confirmation messages for a given time-period into
one message?  It would remove the instant replies we've become used
to with NNTP, but would save a lot of time for prolific NNTP posters.
