I just got a chance to read about the engine behind the Crossword puzzle. Very
very powerful and sophisticated, but also, apparently, commercial software.
How does this square with the LUGNET philosophy? I thought you didn't want to
use any non "free" software? Granted, the crossword puzzle is not exactly a
core component of the system (although it's lots of fun...). Is the java
applet that drives the display a freely redistributable component and only the
editing/list/clue/management software the part you have to pay for?
Minor point, of course, but got me wondering.

Exactly -- it's not part of the core system, and nothing except itself depends on it, and Java is (...) (24 years ago, 26-Sep-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
