Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

(...) Hrmmm, not so sure it would be pure noise for non-U.S. people. I think the US S@H specials can help to foster the formation of trading partnerships among all the world's Legomaniacs. "Hey, I'm in the UK and I saw this was on special - how (...) (26 years ago, 31-Dec-98, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

(...) Works for me. I'll have to subscribe to lugnet.us so I can be sure to remember the name. :) (...) Doing Good Things is what it's all about. :) (26 years ago, 31-Dec-98, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

(...) Well, give it a shot in .announce (for better or for worse) and see what people think. If nobody complains, and a lot of people are happy about it (and I think most people will be), then it's probably the right formula. So how about--? (...) (...) -- whoops, I typo'd -- I mean lugnet.loc.us -- but you'd find that out soon enough. :) --Todd (26 years ago, 31-Dec-98, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

(...) "I been tinkin'" about this a lot tonight and want to get it resolved real quick so Mike has a place to post tomorrow morning... As I understand it, there is a UK S@H service as well as the US S@H service. (At least, if the UK SAHS doesn't (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

[Crossposted to lugnet.admin.general & lugnet.general, with followups set to lugnet.admin.general] (...) Mike, Suzanne just cautioned me that I might be taking a too-hasty approach here. So for tomorrow morning, just post wherever you think is (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.general)

Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

(...) Minor point: you're thinking of a .lsah group, not .lsahs. .lsah would cover all of S@H, .lsahs would be just the specials. (...) How about .lsah.specials? Then at some time a 'real' .lsah group could be created, if there was sufficient need. (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

(...) Good-deals?? It's not A word but it is broader, but restrictive enough (I thought of "deals" but that might be taken as a place to describe deals gone bad, etc..) (25 years ago, 4-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

(...) Just a quick tangent here since we don't have a .lsahs group yet. Are the LC accessories still $1.50 or are you just listing that as an example? (25 years ago, 4-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

(...) I've always equated LSAHS = LEGO Shop At Home Service because of the official name being "Shop At Home Service" as shown on the catalogs that come in themail. (...) Mmm, interesting. What goes in front of .lsah.specials? A (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

(...) Let's take the opposite of that, then -- bad deals. People want to talk about bad deals too. Rip-offs and disgusting pricing practices. So what are all the things that people want to talk about in terms of the larger picture of "value (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

(...) Todd, an idea... IMO, the word "market" says that it's stuff we're selling online, not official retailers, which I'm assuming don't sell here. Even if they did, they could still use market.buy-sell-trade. I guess we're concerned about passing (...) (25 years ago, 5-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

(...) Yup -- great! -- that's exactly what it was intended as. (...) Yup -- I agree, that would make a lot of sense (assuming it was done in a friendly and non-spamful way :). (...) Wow, I just looked up "retail" in online Webster's -- it says that (...) (25 years ago, 5-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

(...) I've always thought that a retailer sells directly to Joe Gritz even if they slap on the word "wholesale", the meaning of which has been slightly widened these days. I do not consider CostCo to be strictly a wholesaler. In cases like that, (...) (25 years ago, 5-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

(...) Oops, yes, thanks -- I meant "_discussions_of_ buying and shopping for primarily-brand-new LEGO sets." What you wrote is cool too -- but I'd like to see it be discussions as well, not just pure information dispersal. --Todd (25 years ago, 5-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

(...) Oops, sorry. My misunderstanding. (...) Well, that is open to discussion. I don't have a strong opinion on lugnet.market.lsahs.specials or lugnet.shopping.lsahs.specials. (...) Good point. (...) I guess that's what I was suggesting as a (...) (25 years ago, 5-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

(...) Deep vs. wide -- do you mean deeper is better than wider? (Is the "Oh, yeah" a point or a counter-point?) I don't have any inherent dislike for deep ng trees as long as the ng names remain: (a) type-able, (b) remember-able, (c) readable, and (...) (25 years ago, 5-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Proper place to post US S@H Phone Specials

(...) Sometimes. Did someone say "golden mean"? "Oh, yeah" = "I just remembered what I was thinking of when I wrote about it originally." (...) Yes. To all of that. (25 years ago, 5-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)
