I don't know if this will work, but I tried setting up 'internet e-mail' or
something similar for delivery method.

Yes, but of course it depends how your software was designed. The default
should be to reply just to the sender, and with an optional "reply to all"
button (sometimes shift-Reply or a separate selection) then you reply to the
list. But again, the behavior is client-specific. And there's no way for
the client to know that a person is any different from a mailing list.
