Todd,
Just curious...
Will the continued evolution of Lugnet render me incapable of accessing this
site in the near future?

I hope not!!!

(webtvs incompatability w/ java and the new FLASH
images preclude me from viewing some websites, even www.Lego.com)

We've no near-term plans for adding Java or Flash.

Thank the gods!

Are there a significant number of Lugnet members who use webtv?

Statistically significant, yes.  Difficult to tell how many, though.  One small
statistic:  In the past 16 hours there have been hits from 572 different WebTV
IP addresses.  At the one extreme, it could be 1 user dialing up 572 times.
At the other extreme, it could be 572 different people each dialing up once.
Probably it's somewhere in the neighborhood of ~100 to ~200 people accessing
LUGNET through WebTV today (Sun 18 Mar 2000).

I guess I may be responsible for 10 -20 percent of the webtv hits..

How many times does a typical WebTV user connect to the Internet per day?
(I'm just guessing 3 to 5.)

I think your assessment would be correct...I am extreme in my habits
though...My connection terminates for phone calls and times out after 5 mins
of inactivity...I have had many phone calls this week (due to job
interviews) during my Lugnet reading time, so I have been connecting  10
times aday or more...

I also had some guests over yesterday who wanted to see the "Lugnet Green"
and the Leprachaun...this is of course quite entertaining after Guiness
pints...hic!

I tend to keep my connection active while watching evening tv/movies
cruising eBay, Lego webpages, and newsgroups during commercials, for instance.

Support for MSPIE on WINCE is also going to be important in the future, as are
other palm-based devices such as the Palm Pilot line, Yopi, etc.

Interesting...I will have to read more...
