No, I really see a difference between saying that "you're
behaving like a such and such" and saying "you are a such and such."
I don't see it as couching it or cushioning it in
roundabout phrasing (weasel wording). I see it as
describing someone's behavior rather than making a
value judgement about them personally.
I grant that not everyone would agree that there is
a distinction there, and I'm not sure in the head of battle
I'd feel so much better hearing one said in favor of the other.
But I try to draw such a distinction on the occasions when the
time comes to comment so negatively on someone.
