The written charters for the product-line/themed groups created a couple
months ago were too restrictive and over-simplified. Except for
lugnet.trains and lugnet.starwars, which were created at the beginning, the
themed groups mentioned only the name of the product line that they covered,
and didn't mention related issues. This caused a bit of confusion.
The original idea with the product-line/themed groups was a pedantic mirror
representation of the LEGO product line in deeper categories such as
lugnet.lego.* and lugnet.lego.system.*:

and under that sort of arrangement, the individual charters would have been
nice and simple, similar to the loc group charters, for example:

Later, when it was later decided to simplify the hierarchy (move all the
themed groups up to the root and eliminate the ".system." category),

the written charters stayed the same (i.e., very simple) but should actually
have spelled out more explicitly what would have been implied by a higher-
level category had there been one...so that's what's happening now: The new

Some of the finer points of these may not make 100% sense -- For example, I
don't know how historical events might relate to Fabuland or PRIMO, or how
literature might relate to Technic or Znap -- but it's more of a common
framework and philosophy than anything else.
