Heh.  Well I think Bram might've been suggesting was more like this:

When he said, "the same way you would sign a letter," he meant a written
letter, not signing with letters.  (I think.  :-)

I wonder if anyone else watching from the sidelines is finding this as
absurd as I am?

Insisting on how someone should sign their postings? (if at all).

Easy, easy.  No one's insisting on anything.  Bram was just trying to be
helpful.  So was I.  I was trying to point out to JW that he may have
misunderstood what Bram was suggesting -- at least my interpretation of what
Bram was suggesting.

And then Jonathan complies, in his own way (and surely each of us is
entitled to decide on our own signature, even if it's only an initial),

Certainly!

only to be told that's not good enough, we want you to call yourself this
"--Jonathan".

Nah, no one was saying that.  Just being pedantic.  Jonathan said, "Ahh, now
I see, like this:" and then did something almost contrary to the suggestion,
like he was either not getting it or was rubbing it in Bram's face.

If you're new here or haven't read the whole thread all the way back to the
top, JW has a very very very very very long history of misinterpreting and
disregarding helpful suggestions -- and that's why he's got so many people
disgruntled.

The mob is going too far! Enough!

People are just trying to be helpful.  People would rather help JW find ways
to be taken more seriously than throw him out.

Any messages I get in Eudora clearly indicate who they are from before I even open them. (...) (25 years ago, 20-Aug-99, to lugnet.admin.general)
