Hi, the use of .general for most of the announcements is a good thing for me
using a news reader.
The only thing I find usefull with the web interface is that posts can be
highlighted, pictures of mocs can be seen instantly, and post can be
followed easily between groups. ("Only"? =)
It really does not matter where the post is made on the web, but in a news
reader it certainbly does. One cannot keep up with a gazillion groups in a
news reader.
I prefer my news reader because it is fast. It is the main advantage(The
only one) but it is more important for me to be able to browse quickly than
the other advantages of using the web.
Just a couple of cents. =)

| (...) Although it may be useful for you in particular, it is specifically the purpose of the .announce heirarchy for announcements. Use of .general for announcements is off-topic. The decision to sub-divide Lugnet is a very old decision - one of the (...) (20 years ago, 22-Mar-05, to lugnet.admin.general)
