Chance to be a Christmas Angel...(?)

Someone has emailed me after finding my address from LUGNET looking for a 4561 Railway Express Set. He has found a battered copy in a local Toys R Us but would like a good one because 'Father Christmas can't deliver a battered set'! Can anyone help (...)   Re: Harry P. Movie Trailer / Hogwarts Express Train

(...) Whoo-hoo!!! Awesome! It's gonna take every ounce of patience I can muster to avoid going crazy while I wait for November 16th!!! Forgive me, please, but I'm more eager to see the movie than the Lego sets! However, its not by all that great a (...) (24 years ago, 8-Mar-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

Well the header is still there, just all the messages are gone. I even unsubscribe and subscribed again but it didn't help. We use Outlook 5.5. (...) Oops, my fault -- I forgot to set the 'Followup-To:' header in that article. (...) That's REALLY odd. Because it's not in 'active' here on the server and doing "telnet lugnet.com 119" and then "list" -- it doesn't show up. I'll bet you're (...) (26 years ago, 29-Sep-98, to lugnet.trains)

Re: New Scenes at BrickDreams, and Thanks

(...) It's fine, but you might want to set the 'Followup-To:' header to point at lugnet.cad.ray if you expect the discussion to wander in that direction (like, let's say, in-depth discussion of the tools you used and things like that). Otherwise, (...) (24 years ago, 25-Mar-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.publish, lugnet.admin.nntp)

BUG -- error posting when Followup-To header contains whitespace

I just tried to reply to a message in lugnet.announce in which the Followup-To was set to "lugnet.general ". The trailing space caused my article to be rejected, as my newsreader tried to literally follow the instructions. I'm not sure who (the (...) (26 years ago, 11-Jan-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: what is this folow up thingy?

No -- carbon copies are e-mail directives. Followup-To is a NNTP header field. Followup-To specifies what newsgroup an article will go in when someone posts a followup to it. If you post message A in group X, and the Followup-To field of A is set (...) (26 years ago, 20-Oct-98, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) It's not a bug, but actually a (little-known) feature of the NNTP protocol/ format: If the Followup-To header is set to "poster", then your newsreader is supposed to direct replies to the poster rather than to a newsgroup. -- Todd S.
