|
| Yes, but it won't last long. The HB's electronics draw around 20 - 40 mA. the lifetime of an alkaline 9v is approx 1 Amp hour. So that give you 25 - 50 hours of run time. In practice, you'd get less, 'cause the 1 AH rating assumes a much slower (...) (23 years ago, 19-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

| You shouldn't be seeing voltages over 5v anywhere in the logic circuits. Test if the 7805 is producing more than 5v, or if the RAM circuit (which is on a separate regulator) has more than 5v. In practice I'd rarely see more than a 0.2v error from (...) (24 years ago, 30-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

| It won't necessarily fry the chip. L293s (and the TI equivalent) have a thermal protection mode. If the chip gets too hot, it will turn itself off. Most of the time, this protects the chip against over-current. However, it is still possible to fry (...) (25 years ago, 25-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
