  Connected Radioshack truck

like Ram, I connected successfully a radio shack RC truck (4WS) to the handy board. for the DC motor controlling forward and backward speed, I found the 2 entries of the h bridge connecting the motor. I replaced the cheap front end steering servo (...) (29 years ago, 6-Feb-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Handyboard assembly problem fixed

Dear Fred: No, we went through the assembly following your directions step by step. By the statement " Board OK", I meant that the tests upto the point of downloading pcode (second time with LCD in) tested OK. I did not want to bore the audience (...) You can use either. The 180 ohm resistor will make the output LED brighter, which is generally better, unless you make it so bright as to reduce its lifespan. -Fred ---...--- (...) (28 years ago, 22-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) yes. the polaroid board is pretty sophisticated, really, in that it ramps up the input gain the longer it waits for the ultrasonic reflection pulse. this compensates for the exponential falloff in "volume" as sound disperses on the way out and (...)   5mm range reflectance sensor

Hello, I've got a 5mm range reflectance sensor which I am trying to get to work with the handyboard, without much success. Here is what I have: DigiKey part #: OR506-ND Manufacturer #: EE-SB5V The labels on the leads are as follows: .--- (+) .--, / (...) (29 years ago, 8-Feb-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

this could also be a problem with the cable betw the interface/charger and the host computer. does the green led on the interface go on when plugged into the host CPU? if not, this is indicative of such a cable probl. however, the pwr light on the (...)   RE: motor control

There is no recommended way. I've got a pretty simple bipolar H-bridge design that you can connect up pretty easily using an opto isolator and get 3 - 6amps of control and software compatibility. Unfortunately I'm not in the kit business nor do I (...) (29 years ago, 23-Feb-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  I need two servo signals...

I really need two servo-out signals. I got one working just fine with the standard servo code and output to digital pin 9. I was thinking I could just adapt the servo code for another port, but I don't know what other port I can use. Currently, I (...) (29 years ago, 16-Feb-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Probs w/ as11_ic in MSDOS?

Hi all, I'm trying to compile an interrupt routine into an .icb file. However, when I run the as11_ic.bat file on my MS-DOS 286 machine, the routine hangs on the first gcc command. No errors, just goes away forever. Has anyone else run into this? I (...) (29 years ago, 17-Feb-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  hbdl doesn't work?

I successfully downloaded hbdl (thanks for fixing it, Fred!) and ran into some problems when trying to use it.   6V question - is this OK?

Is this OK for getting 6V to motors connected to the L293s? I tapped off the center of the battery back and get about 6V. I then soldered a wire at that point on the battery pack and then soldered the other end to pin 8 (Vs) of each of the L293s (I (...) (29 years ago, 20-Feb-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: SPI header

The SPI (synchronous peripheral interface) does not do normal RS-232 (aka "asynchronous serial") in hardware. you must write an assembly language driver to do the timing. at some point in january i plan to release a 1200 baud output driver. if (...) Hi Dave, can you try the DLM.EXE (not hbdl) program off the software resources web page? you will have to use the "-256" flag because it defaults to -512 for the e1 version of the 6811 which is probably not what you have. also, if you have windows (...)
