Oh sure!! wait until after I make plans for Friday night to ask. I would
probably stay as far away from Halstead Street as possible anyways just because
I know it will be a zoo. Saturday night?....eh....maybe if someone twisted my
arm.

I'm just curious. I really want to attend this years show seeing as I'm
originally from the Detroit area and I can crash at my parents place. I'd like
to bring something small to display since my family really hasn't seen anything
I've built in person since I was about twelve. If I brought something could it
be worked in somewhere? I attended last years show in Philly and I realize most
train clubs have things planned out to the very last stud, at least it appeared
that way. I wanted to bring one thing on a 32x32 baseplate and another that
would be 32x48.
thanks,

First and foremost, Dirty Brickster and Dirty Buildster are two different
events. Please dont confuse the two. Please do get involved in both.
For those those who have been to some of the larger adult LEGO fest in the U.S.
in the last few years you probably already know the rules and your just looking
for the dollar amount. So, to cut to the chase its $10.00 like usual and were
doing it on Friday evening. Have a nice day, and see ya in June. :)
For the rest of the new comers, welcome aboard! Whats Dirty Brickster? Im
glad you asked. If it was happening around X-mas for a gift exchange it would
be called something like Naughty Santa. But its not so it isnt. But it is
still very much a gift exchange. Everyone who wants to join in brings a $10.00
Lego gift. It has to be official LEGO product and the original retail value
has to be or add up to $10.00. If you manage to find a $10.00 set on sale for
$3.00 thats fine but if you find a $20.00 set on sale for $10.00 thats even
better. You can also give several smaller things that add up to $10.00 but they
should be wrapped in one box, not several boxes. If your giving a actual LEGO
set (which most people do) then it should be unopened. If your giving an
opened set then it should be at least several years old and have some kind of
undisputed value as something of historic value or something a collector would
want. If you question if you gift is legit you can always ask me. Your gift has
to be wrapped so people cant tell what it is. You can have fun with this and
putting a smaller gift in a larger box before you wrap it is completely
acceptable. For those of you flying in and not checking your luggage please
remember dont wrap it before you get here. (Its an airport security thing)
If you can wrap it before hand please do. There is always people running around
at the last minute looking for bags and such to mask their gift with. Please
come prepared. Wrapping your gift in something odd is always fun, Sunday
comics, old Lego posters, aluminum foil (your a LEGO fan, get creative).
THE GAME: Everyone puts their gift into a pile and gets a ticket. If we have
over 40 people enter we may opt to split into two groups to make things move
along faster. We draw a ticket to see who goes first and that person choses a
gift from the pile and unwraps it. We draw a second ticket and the person with
that ticket has the option of either drawing a gift from the pile or stealing
the first persons gift. If he steals it from the first person the first person
takes another gift from the pile. The person with the third drawn ticket would
therefore get to steal from person one or two or the pile. Likewise, if they
stole from any of the previous players then they in turn would get to either
take from the pile or steal from someone else. You can not steal back from
someone who just stole from you, but if that gift is stolen again by someone
else then you can steal it back from the second person who stole it. (confused
yet?) Once a gift is stolen three times (the fourth person to hold it) it is
LOCKED and can not be stolen again. Hence, if its a great gift you may not
want to even bother stealing it early in the game because someone will probably
grab it from you. Once all the tickets are drawn and the pile is gone the first
person gets one last turn to steal a gift that is not locked. This is because
since he went first he didnt have a chance to steal from anyone at all.
The game can be really fun and can take a while to get through depending on how
much stealing is taking place. Hope you chose to join us.
Please let Steve know if you have any questions.

Were doing Dirty Buildster twice at Brickworld. Once Thursday night after
set-up at 10p.m. And again Saturday night at 8:00p.m.
You can get into one or both games. If you miss Thursday night you can still
join us on Saturday, or you can chose to do only both events. If you plan on
doing both events please plan on bringing enough bricks for both events. Dont
assume that your going to want to give away the crap that you get Thurday night
on Saturday night. You may get some pieces that you actually want.
The RULES!!!!
If you want to be involved, you show up with two bags (preferable opaque). EACH
bage is to contain 20 basic bricks. This can be anything from a 1x1 up to a
1x16 or 2x10. They can be all one color or mixed colors. But they cant be
slopes, facet bricks, or inverted bricks.
EACH bag is also to contain 80 elements that are not basic bricks. They can be
anything at all, plates, minifig pieces, support elements, galador parts, wheels
without rims, etc. It should be parts that you value the least in your
collection and stuff someone else will probably have a hard time building with.
They do have to be real LEGO elements.
No pawning your knock-off brand pieces on someone else. Pieces are also to be
in good to new condition (no cracked, broken, chewed, written on, or melted
pieces. The pieces will be counted the way they come out of the poly bags in a
set. For instance: you could put in a minifig torso with its arms and hands
intact but you couldnt put in just hands, torsos, or arms because when you
received them in a set they were already connected, so it only counts as one
piece, not five. Because of this, some hinge elements can be given as only a
ball joint but not other ball element. In the 80 pieces no particular element
can be repeated more than 10 times regardless of color. So you cant give
someone 80 1x1 plates, just 10 at the most. But you could put 10 1x1 plates in
each bag if you so wished.
During the event both of your bags will have a ticket stapled to it.
The other half of those tickets will be placed in a bag. Well randomly select
someone to go first because it really doesnt matter. The person who draws the
first ticket will receive that corresponding bag. The person who just had their
bag called will then be the next person to draw a ticket until all the bag are
exchanged (hence all the tickets are drawn). In the event that you draw your own
ticket your stuck with your own crummy pieces.
The bags that you receive you are now stuck with. You now open the two bags,
combine the pieces and start building something, anything. It can be a house,
car, spacecraft, scuplture, or whatever you can come up with. You can use as
many or as few of the 200 pieces as you wish. The creations will then be
collected and displayed the following morning at 11:am. Thursday nights event
will be judged during the public session on Saturday and Saturdays event will
be judged during the Sundays public session.
This was fun when we did it before. Hope you join us.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
Ill see ya in June.
