Re: Appreciating what TLG and Lego Direct have done for AFOL's

(...) At the risk of adding being a "me-too", let me add my voice of appreciation. Now is definitely the best time to be an AFOL. And I can't wait to see what 2005 brings. The grey cloud on the horizon - in my part of the world, retailers are (...) (20 years ago, 22-Nov-04, to lugnet.lego, FTX)

  Re: Universal Color List...finally

(...) I'd say that's the most likely explanation. AFOLs have many sources of bricks and besides - MANY just aren't that affected by the colour change. (...) I can understand why people are annoyed at the color change. But it bothers me a lot that (...) (20 years ago, 20-Nov-04, to lugnet.color)

  Re: Universal Color List...finally

(...) One of the aspects of the colour change that most justifiably upset AFOLs was the impact it had on their collections of bricks for MOCs. Try to think from the AFOL MOCer perspective and maybe you can share with us the following lists as well (...) (20 years ago, 22-Nov-04, to lugnet.color, FTX)

(...) I have not seen one scrap of evidence that Jake or anyone else at TLC has been dishonest at any point in time. And what's more... FACT: The toy industry is cut-throat, competitive, season-driven. FACT: TLC is a privately held company. FACT: (...) (20 years ago, 23-Nov-04, to lugnet.lego, FTX)

  Re: I love lego

(...) It's not exactly a ringing endorsement of TLC's approach is it? Taking a very broad view of the "market" - ie kids - the market's changing. Kids seem to be abandoning traditional toys and picking up video games earlier. Taking a more narrow (...) (20 years ago, 29-Nov-04, to lugnet.color, FTX)

(...) In my part of the world, every store is decreasing shelf space for Lego. MB picking up the difference, where MB is being sold by that store. At least you still have access to Lego through S@H. (20 years ago, 29-Nov-04, to lugnet.market.shopping)

David, I think that's great. Its honest, heartfelt and doesn't try to stretch the facts. There is nothing in there that the reader could argue with and its not whiny. It also has a "call to action".   Re: Halving the colours in the palette - Lego Life Sept 2004

Reducing the number of colours in the palette seems like a win-win. It means Lego can be cheaper, and it also means that AFOLs will find it easier to build a decent selection of parts in each colour. (20 years ago, 9-Dec-04, to lugnet.color)
